Justin Allgaier has done it!

Well, Justin Allgaier has done it. Our young American visitor that came here to Baypark to race Super Saloons at 17 years of age won his first NASCAR Nationwide race in Bristol, Tennessee last weekend. Justin led home his Team Penske team mate to give the Penske organisation a one- two finish. Justin's win wasn't easy. He beat several experienced and very successful NASCAR drivers including Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick, who rounded out the top five. Justin appears to have cemented his future in NASCAR with the win.

Australian Sprint Car Driver in our ranks

We had an Australian Sprint Car Driver in our ranks at the final meeting of the season. 'Flyan Ryan' Farrell is a six time West Australian Champion and he has an impressive record to his credit including two runner-up finishes in the Australian Sprint Car Championship and an impressive performance in the Knoxville Nationals in the United States. Ryan ran a car from James Dahm's stable and he had his Australian Crew Chief with him for support. This was Ryan's first visit to Baypark.

The Mini Stock Nationals held on 20 March

The Mini Stock Nationals held on 20 March was the first event for our youth class at Baypark that carried a cash prize. There was a $1,000 purse on the final race with the winner being paid $500, second $300 and third $200. The money will be paid into an educational facility of the competitor's choice so it can only be used to further their education and development in their chosen field. It is believed this was the first Youth Mini Stock event to carry prize money since the racing division was formed.

We have a lot to look forward to next season.

The New Zealand Sprint Car Championship, the Super Saloon Grand Prix, the North Island Stock Car Championship and the North Island Saloon Championship will all be held here at Baypark. We will also hold all of our regular events and series as well as a surprise International Event which will make it a busy and very exciting season. Most of the dates for the Championships have yet to be approved by Speedway New Zealand but the New Zealand Sprint Car Championship will be held on January 7th and 8th. Mark it on the Calendar!
